There are lots of quick but impactful things you can still do for Climate Week:
 

Sign the Climate Week Declaration urging the government to act (takes 1 minute)
The Climate Week Declaration is calling on government to take urgent action on climate change, especially in the Energy Bill now going through Parliament. Over 700 organisations and people have signed in its first week.

Join the Climate Week Thunderclap to generate a storm on Twitter and Facebook (takes 1 minute).

Fairtrade Fortnight 25 February - 10 March

Monday 25 February marked the start of Fairtrade Fortnight.

Fairtrade Fortnight sets aside two weeks every year in which the principles and products of Fairtrade are promoted and the links between consumers and producers is highlighted. Fairtrade Fortnight is the nationwide effort to promote awareness of Fairtrade and urge people to buy products carrying the FAIRTRADE Mark.

The Big Tree Plant funding scheme

The main aim of The Big Tree Plant funding scheme is to encourage and support community groups to plant trees in neighbourhoods where people live and work.

The Forestry Commission want to help improve the quality of life of those living in England’s towns, cities and residential areas by making neighbourhoods more attractive, healthy places to live; especially in areas of greatest deprivation and/or where there is little greenery.

Climate week is Monday 4 March – Sunday 10 March 2013

Climate Week is Britain’s biggest climate change campaign, inspiring a new wave of action to create a sustainable future.

Culminating in a week of activities, it showcases practical solutions from every sector of society.

Each year, half a million people attend 3,000 events in Britain’s biggest ever environmental occasion. Events are run by schools, businesses, charities, councils and many others.

BIG backed scheme puts volunteers at heart of parks

Vital green spaces across England that are at risk of decline due to significant funding cuts are to be supported through a Lottery backed ‘Love Parks’ project announced today.

Big Lottery Fund (BIG) is awarding £416,450 to GreenSpace’s ‘Love Parks’ project which will see a nationwide network of trained volunteers created to help conserve parks and green spaces up and down the country.

Greener Journeys Manchester grant winners announced

Grants of £5,000 have been awarded to three Greater Manchester-based community organisations. The grants will fund innovative projects to encourage local people to leave their cars behind and try the bus instead.

The winners are:

Gaydio (leading a consortium of 8 community radio stations) – using local radio to deliver the benefits of taking the bus to thousands of drivers ahead of a ‘Get on Board’ day of activity
