And what better time than at The Great Get Together weekend on 21-23rd June. 
The Great Get Together also want to make as much noise on social media, in the news and where we live about the importance of kindness, respect and community.
Media Trust is a communications charity that believes in the power of media to change lives. As a charity, they work in partnership with the creative and media industry to give marginalised groups a stronger voice. Media Trust do this by promoting skills-based volunteering, empowering young people from diverse backgrounds to work in media and encouraging a constructive dialogue and collaboration between the charity and media sectors. 
Victoria and I attended an Ambition for Ageing seminar yesterday by Kate Jopling where she presented the findings from a recent publication ‘Age-friendly and inclusive volunteering: Review of community contributions in later life' by the Centre for Aging Better in partnership with the Department for Digital, Media, Culture and Sport (DCMS).
The Auto Trader Community Fund aims to encourage small, community-based and locally controlled groups that manage themselves, encourage people to get involved as volunteers and who just need a bit of financial help to be able to work with their community in the way they’d like. 
A rare opportunity has arisen for a Chair of Trustees to lead the Smart Works Greater Manchester centre. 
Smart Works Greater Manchester opened in June 2015, the first Smart Works centre in England outside of London. Since then they have supported over 1200 women in need and over 67% have gone on to succeed at their job interviews, despite more than half having been unemployed for more than a year and 20% for over 5 years.
Helping organisations and volunteers to make the most of volunteering opportunities
‘Engaging Volunteers, Changing Lives’ will bring together organisations and volunteers to explore the first phases of the volunteer journey through the European Solidarity Corps - from the selection and recruitment of volunteers before the start of projects to on-placement support and mentoring.

A Steering Group of service user and carers was formed and has been working behind the scenes and meeting regularly to agree a governance structure of a Chair and Vice Chair with 1 representative from each of the 10 boroughs which is known as the CORE group of members.
Manchester City Council (MCC) are in the process of decommissioning Alexandra House in Hulme. In accordance with the agreed MCC furniture retention and disposal policy MCC have identified some items of furniture which may be available to third sector groups and schools. The furniture is generally office chairs, desks, meeting chairs and tables all in used but good condition. 
The Big Lunch is about millions of people getting together to share food, have fun and get to know each other better. It's a simple idea - that for a few glorious hours, cars stop, shyness stops and neighbours come together in the street to meet, greet, share, swap, sing, plan and laugh.
