25 Feb 2013 - 21:38 by walt.crowson

The Department for Communities and Local Government recently launched a competition to discover and support organisations that can deliver community-based English language programmes in the following identified areas of the North West

Bradford, Kirklees, Blackburn with Darwen, Hyndburn, Oldham, Manchester, Rochdale, Pendle

This competition is open to all organisations and further information can be found at:

https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/community-based-english-langu....

The LSEN is bringing together a number of organisations from the voluntary, housing and health sectors to identify what an effective initial expression of interest might look like

If your organisation would like to find out more please email [email protected] by the end of this week

DCLG are looking for projects that, when fully developed, can deliver the high-level outcomes they are looking to achieve, namely:

Deliver a programme that will provide English language training and support participants’ integration into their local communities

Reach those groups in England with the lowest levels of English language skill

Work in those areas of England with a high need for this type of English language support

Design a project which can be sustained past the point of Government funding

Design a project with the capacity to be scaled up to reach large numbers of learners.
