Change Makers 42

23 Apr 2020 - 14:37 by michelle.foster

42nd StreetAs a Change Maker at 42nd Street you will deliver exciting and dynamic social action projects and campaigns with other young people. The aim is to make changes to the current system and develop a culture of supportive and reflective mental health services for young people across Greater Manchester.

You will engage in an initial 3-daytraining program which will skill you up to interpret the political landscape, develop skills in leading group work and understand how the current mental health system impacts on young people’s wellbeing and recovery.

After the training, with your fellow Change Makers you will be supported to create sessions and activities that will engage young people aged 11-18 in the local community. The sessions will empower the young people to have a voice and campaign for their rights in relation to mental health.

This is initially a volunteer role, however there is development opportunities for it to become a paid sessional role.

Topics covered on the training:

  • Social action and campaigning
  • Working with young people
  • Session planning
  • Understanding mental health
