12 Mar 2020 - 16:08 by michelle.foster

Cracking Good FoodCracking Good Food, a not for profit social enterprise that teaches people how to cook affordable, healthy food from scratch is celebrating 10 years in business and has this month relaunched its website.

www.crackinggoodfood.org has been completely updated and redesigned.

The new site offers a vastly improved user experience, with easy navigation to a wealth of information on Cracking Good Food’s community projects, campaigning and cookery schools. Short films really help to get to the heart of Cracking Good Food’s work. The new Campaigning section describes Cracking Good Food’s mission to eradicate food poverty in Greater Manchester, working alongside Greater Manchester Food Poverty Alliance. The work tackles the ever more urgent issues of food poverty, holiday hunger and food waste to teach a more sustainable approach to food in line with the urgency of Climate Change and the impact of processed food on our health.

Cookery School sessions that offer one day masterclasses in a range of cuisines and skills including Japanese, Vegan and Bread Making, South Indian are now easier to book. The ever-popular foraging expeditions teach how to identify and cook edible plants in the wild and this year sees the return of the YoungCANCook sessions, for children and adults to get together for a fun afternoon of building confidence and skills in the kitchen. NutriCOOK 1:1 is a brand-new service offering a completely personalised and individual cooking session and recipe package based on a person’s specific nutritional needs. Gift Vouchers are available to redeem against these life enhancing experiences.

Cracking Good Food also run bespoke teambuilding events and parties; the new site contains information on the host of different formats available. There are further opportunities for businesses to get involved through corporate sponsorship and for individuals to help by donating unused and unwanted cooking and gardening equipment.

The cookery schools and events are a vital part of Cracking Good Food’s work, as they help to cover core running costs and allow Cracking Good Food to continue to work towards their mission of making food available to all. 81% of their work is to bring healthy, sustainable and affordable ways of eating to communities living in food poverty and every person who takes part in a Cookery School session is contributing to that drive for positive change.

Adele Jordan, Cracking Good Food’s Founding Director, says: “We were becoming increasingly aware of the need to run a website that allowed our visitors to access information on all kinds of devices while on the go – and how our previous website wasn’t delivering that. The relaunch has given us a chance to focus on ways to communicate better what we do, and what we offer, after ten years of teaching, training, collecting, campaigning, foraging, volunteering and of course cooking.”

Cracking Good Food believe that cooking is a vital life skill that everyone should have the opportunity to learn, as good food IS affordable IF you know WHAT to cook and HOW.
