Family Action's Manchester Young Carers Forum - Young Carers and school survey

24 Apr 2013 - 15:38 by michelle.foster

Family Action's Manchester Young Carers Forum (MYCF) have recently been involved in a national Family Action campaign about young carers and school, entitled ‘Be Bothered’. As a result of this involvement the Forum have decided to undertake their own research, in the form of a survey, into young carers at school in Manchester aged between 8 and 18.

The Forum want to find out what support and help young carers are currently receiving in schools and what other support they need, as school plays a massive part in all their lives, but can be very hard when you’re looking after someone.

The group would also like to find out what non-young carers think about their needs. The results of this survey will then form the basis for the Forum’s own needs analysis which they will present at an event attended by local MP’s, Manchester City Council members, professionals and schools during Carers Week in June.

However, none of this will be possible without your help. The members of MYCF want to make their survey open to as many young people as possible in the hope that many young people will have their views and opinions heard on one of the most important aspects of their lives. To complete the survey, visit: https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/GQW6QTD

So, if you are currently working with young people aged between 8 and 18 in the City of Manchester please could you encourage them to take this survey. The survey itself should take between five to ten minutes to complete and is not only aimed at young carers, so please encourage as many young people as possible to fill it out.

The members of the Forum would like to thank you in advance for you help and support.
