intu Trafford Centre are starting the search for their new charities

8 Sep 2017 - 09:57 by michelle.foster

Since 1999, over £600,000 has been collected in the fountains across intu Trafford Centre. intu Trafford Centre

Every single coin is cleaned, counted and donated to local charities – the centre chooses three worthy causes every two years.

Over the past two years, more than £70,000 has been donated to local bereavement charity, Once Upon a Smile, the north-west branch of Breast Cancer Care and defibrillator awareness charity Hand on Heart. Other charities which have benefited from shoppers’ generosity over the centre’s 19-year history include The Alzheimer’s Society, Guide Dogs for the Blind, St Ann’s Hospice, North West Air Ambulance, Trafford Macmillan Care Centre and the Greater Manchester Cerebral Palsy Society to name but a few.

As intu Trafford Centre approaches its 20th birthday, intu would like to invite loyal shoppers to choose which local charities become our new Fountain Fund partners for 2018-2020.

intu seeks like-minded registered charitable organisations who want to make a difference to communities, who make a significant impact on the north-west of England, preferably in Trafford or Salford.

All shortlisted charities will be announced via the intu website and the Manchester Evening News in early November, following which the final charities will be selected via a public vote. The successful charities will be revealed by the end of 2017.

Rules of eligibility
• The application must be specific to the North West of England, preferably in Trafford or Salford
