Manchester Community Histories Awards 2014 - applications now open

Manchester Histories Festival (MHF) is excited to announce that applications are now open for the Manchester Community Histories Awards 2014.

The awards give public recognition to the excellent work that is being done to celebrate and preserve Greater Manchester’s histories and heritage, and MHF is now calling for applications for two awards: Best Community Histories Award supported by Heritage Project Management and open to partnerships between community groups and an archive, gallery, library, museum or university and Best School Histories Award supported by Laing O’Rourke and open to partnerships between schools and an archive, gallery, library, museum or university within Greater Manchester. The winning projects in both categories will be awarded £750 and a commemorative trophy, plus there are two judges recommended prizes in each category of £250.

Winning entries will be selected by a panel of six judges ahead of the Awards Ceremony to be held during next year’s festival.

Applications are open to all partnerships where both organisations are existing not for profit groups from within Greater Manchester, for project’s taking place in Greater Manchester between 1 Jan 2012 and 31 Dec 2013 and for project’s based on an element of Greater Manchester’s histories or heritage. The Manchester Community Histories Awards Ceremony will take place on Friday 28 March 2014 and the Manchester Histories Festival will take place between 21-30 March 2014.
