Manchester Mind is recruiting Young Trustees aged 18-25

27 Jun 2013 - 10:39 by michelle.foster

Manchester Mind is looking to recruit young Trustees (aged 18-25) and would welcome applications from people with skills, experience, time and enthusiasm to join their Board of Trustees.

About the role
Many people in Manchester are finding it harder to cope with the pressures they face: making ends meet financially; getting and staying in a job and caring for children and loved ones. The stresses that people are dealing with increases the chance that they will experience poor mental health. Manchester Mind knows that there are even more challenging times ahead. Manchester Mind are looking for new trustees to join their Board to help to address those challenges and ensure that people experiencing mental health issues have the right support.

The Trustees will be required to join a Board of Trustees that meets 10 times a year currently on Tuesday evenings. The main task is to oversee the delivery of the strategic and business plans, manage the organisation’s performance and ensure financial sustainability. The post holder will be inducted to the Board, have a mentor while you’re learning about your role and regular reviews with the Chair.

About you
The role of trustee is an opportunity to give something back to the community and bring your enthusiasm and commitment to help others as well as your diverse experience and skills (which could be from all kinds of professional and /or personal backgrounds).

Manchester Mind welcomes applications from all sections of the community but to increase the skills mix and diversity of our current Board we would particularly welcome applications from:
• People from BME communities (who are currently under-represented at Board level).
• People with direct experience of mental health issues – either personally, as a carer or in a professional capacity.
• People with professional expertise in campaigning, fund-raising, accountancy, education, catering and hospitality, research and evaluation, or with a commercial or legal background.

About Manchester Mind
