Tools for the Job – free workshops

20 Nov 2015 - 10:56 by michelle.foster

VYM is offering a series of free workshops for the voluntary youth sector, especially Youth and Play funded organisations. The purpose of these workshops is to offer you the support and training to use effective tools and resources that will help you demonstrate quality and outcomes, to manage and use data, to understand what it takes to submit effective tenders, and to aid your financial reporting.

Most Significant Change
Date & Time: Tuesday 1 December 2015, 2pm-4pm
Venue: Board Room, Adactus Housing Association, 542 Oldham Road, Miles Platting, Manchester, M40 8BS

This workshop will introduce you to the Most Significant Change outcomes tool which has been developed as a partnership between Manchester Metropolitan University, VYM and several voluntary youth organisations in the city. The workshop will be led by VYM and the workers who have been developing and using the tool over the last year, who are best placed to tell you about the benefits and the difference it has made for them and their organisation.

Ambition Quality
Date & Time: Tuesday 15 December 2015, 2pm-4pm
Venue: Board Room, Adactus Housing Association, 542 Oldham Road, Miles Platting, Manchester, M40 8BS

This workshop will be an opportunity to focus on ‘doing a quality standard’ aided by workers who have already trialed the Ambition Quality standard in Manchester – seeing how it has been done, picking up tips, avoiding reinventing wheels, etc. This will be a practical workshop that will complement the introductory session being led by Ambition’s own staff which took place on 10th Nov.

Finance basics
Date & Time: Tuesday 12 January 2016, 2pm-4pm
Venue: Board Room, Adactus Housing Association, 542 Oldham Road, Miles Platting, Manchester, M40 8BS

This workshop will be led by Dave Barnett, an experienced financial professional who has helped numerous small to medium sized voluntary organisations in the North West (including VYM) to use some simple tools and resources to effectively manage and report on their financial position. There will be a small charge for a memory stick with all the spreadsheets and instructions you need.

Funding and tendering
Date & Time: Tuesday 26 January 2016, 2pm-4pm
Venue: Board Room, Adactus Housing Association, 542 Oldham Road, Miles Platting, Manchester, M40 8BS

This workshop will be facilitated by Evan Chiswell, Business Development Manager at Lifeline, an organisation with a successful record of tendering for contracts, who will share their knowledge on what makes a good tender. Participants will also receive a free copy of VYM’s Funding Basics guide.

The format of the workshops will be collaborative with inputs from VYM, experienced professionals in the sector and external expertise only where necessary. There will also be opportunity for participants to identify how other support could best be offered, via direct work, partnerships and other gatherings.

There are a limited number of spaces, to book your place on any of the workshops, email [email protected], identifying which workshop(s) in the subject heading.
