Wythenshawe Games 2018 are looking for volunteers

Now in its 7th year, Wythenshawe Games is Manchester’s largest community sports festival, taking in and around Wythenshawe and centering on the beautiful and historic Wythenshawe Park and Hall. As part of this great event volunteers are required to support the 10K Race and the Family Fun Weekend. Wythenshawe Games

Family Fun Weekend
Date: Saturday 28 July 2018 and Sunday 29 July 2018
To work with Wythenshawe Games staff to make Wythenshawe Park’s designated ‘Games Areas’ a safe and welcoming place for all Wythenshawe Games activity. To engage with visitors to the park to offer an inclusive and enjoyable experience, which helps to ensure participants get the most from Wythenshawe Games.
• Provide basic information to Wythenshawe Games visitors and participants
• Signpost visitors to relevant activity/facilities
• Promote participation in events by visitors to the park
• To assist at relieving other volunteers of their duties for breaks/lunch
• Assist in handing out goodies/promotion/information and balloons
• Assist the information point desk
• Prevent unauthorised access to restricted areas by visitors
• Help keep food area clean and tidy and Help reduce litter by litter picking
• Manage crowds around the fairground, in a safe manner.
• Be active in ensuring the health and wellbeing of all guests
• To report any anti-social behaviour, illegal activity or perceived dangers to the Volunteer Coordinator
• To assist sports activity providers in the set up and clear away of events as required
• Assist Wythenshawe Games staff to gather comments and feedback from participants

10K Race
Date: Sunday 29 July 2018
To work with Wythenshawe Games staff to make the Wythenshawe Games 10KM a safe and welcoming event for everyone. To engage with runners to offer an inclusive and enjoyable good quality event, which helps all participants get the most that they can from Wythenshawe Games.
• Welcome runners at the start of the event
• Assist with registration and the allocation of race numbers
• Cover fixed marshalling points where to inspire, cheer and motivate participants through their 10km journey
• Assist in ensuring no vehicles and pedestrians impede the course during the race
• Help distribute water to runners at the designated water station during the race
• Help distribute goodie bags at the end of the race
• Help clear the course after the event Help with the set up of the course including any signage or equipment, which will maximise participant experience
