Youth HELP Training

11 Dec 2015 - 11:17 by michelle.foster

The Youth Health, Empowerment and Leadership Programme (HELP), provided free by Multicultural Arts and Media Centre (MAMC), will be delivered through a choice of the following 5 modules:
1. Getting to know each other, knowledge of the NHS, what is mental health and mental illness
2. Empowering young people through arts, effective communication and presentation skills
3. Learning through participation (visits to local health and public services)
4. Feedback, evaluation and lessons learnt
5. Presentation of evaluation and reports from the above learning modules 1, 2, 3 and 4.

The aims of the project are:
• To empower and develop young people from a diverse background, particularly from the BAME communities, as health leaders of the future
• To use media arts as a medium to allow young people to explore and express their views and beliefs on issues that they feel affect their lives
• To share experiences gained by young people on the programme with wider members of the communities

After the training you have the opportunity to join a youth advisory group that will represent the views of young people. Involving young people brings fresh new perspectives to a range of Local Health and Public services issues and will ensure that they are providing the services that children and young people want. It will be run by the Young People and facilitated by MAMC.

MAMC are recruiting people aged 16-24 to be actively engaged in developing skills.
