Four years ago Ayoola Adeyanju’s family of four came uncomfortably close to being homeless.

The landlord of a rented Manchester apartment, which he was moving into, was facing a repossession order – leaving Ayoola, his wife and two young sons stuck between properties with nowhere to live.

Months of bouncing between the local authority, Shelter and rodent-infected temporary accommodation left its mark on the family.

Applications are now open for micro-grants of up to £500 for installations to support their Remembrance Day activities for the centenary of the First World War.

This programme will allow communities to remember and commemorate by accessing silhouettes for benches and chairs free of charge thanks to the support of the Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust.

The first of its kind ever to take place in our city-region, the GM fortnight of fun launches on Monday 2 July with three simultaneous events taking place from 12noon to 4pm at Manchester City Art Gallery, Central Library and Albert Square.

The Big Lunch is the UK's biggest annual get together for neighbours.  It's a simple idea - that for a few glorious hours, cars stop, shyness stops and neighbours come together in the street to meet, greet, share, swap, sing, plan and laugh.  In 2017, 9.3 million people took to their streets, gardens and neighbourhoods to join in for a few hours of community, friendship and fun.
