Monday 22 July 2019 marks 100 years (to the day) of the formation of Manchester and Salford Council of Social Service. Macc, Salford CVS and Gaddum have worked together to mark the occasion with a celebratory event at the People’s History Museum. We felt it is important to mark 100 years of social action across the twin cities of Salford and Manchester.
The Charity Service is a registered charity (number 1011293) and under its current name has been around since 1990 but its origins date back as far as 1924 when it was the Benevolent Section of Manchester and Salford Council for Social Service. 
The GSK IMPACT Awards provide core funding, training and national recognition for charities doing excellent work to improve people’s health and wellbeing. Up to 20 awards will be made ranging from £3,000 to £40,000. To be eligible organisations must be at least three years old, a registered charity, working in a health-related field in the UK, with income between £80,000 and £2.5 million. 
Places of worship and faith community centres can now apply for an increased pot of funding to improve their physical security against potential hate attacks. 
The purpose of the James Thomas Blair Charity is to provide support to older people living in Manchester and Salford. The support may be of a financial, social or medical nature.
Who may apply?
Any registered charities or voluntary organisations providing assistance to older people who live within the 32 wards of Manchester or 20 wards of Salford.
What do James Thomas Blair Charity support?
Community organisations across England looking to improve spaces where people can connect and co-operate can now apply for grants of up to £50,000 from Space to Connect – our £1.6 million partnership with government. 
Small Grants Programme for events organised by and for young people focused around Inter Faith Week 10-17 November 2019 
The Trust will be awarding small grants up to £800.00 for organisations running events or projects connected with Inter Faith Week 2019
The Carer Innovations Fund aims to support accessible, carer-friendly communities and public services and also seeks to provide evidence on effective interventions to support carers. 
The DWF Foundation has one purpose: providing funds, resources and support to help local communities achieve their full potential. The DWF Foundation supports registered charities with an impact in one or more of the following areas: Homelessness; Health and Wellbeing; Employability; and Education.
