Safeguarding Children and Young People Vulnerable to Radicalisation and Extremism - Practice Guidance

The current threat from terrorism in the United Kingdom can involve the exploitation of vulnerable people, including children, young people and vulnerable adults to involve them in terrorism or activity in support of terrorism.

It is universally agreed that this exploitation should be viewed as a safeguarding concern.

This guidance is intended to provide a clear framework for all professionals working with children for whom there are concerns that they are at risk of becoming involved in violent extremist activity.

This vigil is to honour those we lost and those who are still affected by the Manchester terrorist attack on 22 May 2017.

You are kindly invited to the one month anniversary Vigil on Thursday 22 June, 7pm-9pm at Alexandra Park, 180 Russell Street, Moss Side, Manchester, M16 7JL. Come and gather, pay your respects and acknowledge these who we lost and who have suffered from the painful events which took place.

Since March 2010, Manchester City Council has been working in partnership with the owners of Manchester City Football Club – the Abu Dhabi United Group (ADUG) – to develop a transformational plan for east Manchester focused on the area in and around the Etihad Stadium. Charlie, a student at the London School of Economics, studying Local Economic Development, who grew up in Manchester and studied for an undergraduate degree in Manchester, is currently writing a Master’s thesis on what prevents communities in Manchester from benefitting from the Cities economic growth and development. Charlie wants to understand how local people and communities in Manchester can benefit more from regional and national economic objectives.

We Love Manchester Emergency Fund

The We Love Manchester Emergency Fund has raised £2m in just 24 hours. Sports stars, celebrities, members of the public and businesses have all responded to the call for funds to support people affected by the devastating attack in Manchester, as donations have come pouring in from across the country. The Manchester Evening News, who launched the We Stand Together appeal raising £1m, have joined forces with the We Love Manchester Emergency Fund. The fund will support people who have been injured or bereaved by the attack.
