Marshal Volunteer

Lagan's Foundation is a charitable organisation in which volunteers offer regular support, friendship and practical help  to families with babies and children under the age of 5 diagnosed with congenital heart defects and/or feeding difficulties in their own homes.

On Sunday 28 April we are looking for volunteers to marshal our event (Lagan’s Cycle Challenge).  

Meeting point: Rivington and Blackrod High School, Rivington Lane, Bolton, BL6 7RU however, marshals will be based in pairs at different points along our cycling routes.  

Volunteers must be 18+ 

Time: 8am – 2pm Volunteers are required during these times for a minimum of two hours, can request a morning or afternoon slot.  

We need volunteers to help marshal the event, which involves pointing cyclists in the right direction, giving them a cheer as they pass and ticking them off a sheet so we can keep track of them around the route.

We station people in pairs, so if you want to volunteer with your partner, a friend or a family member then please just let us know and we will station you both together. This volunteering would be for approximately 2 hours on the day. We will meet at Rivington & Blackrod School, you will then make your own way to the marshal point you've been assigned to. 

Marshals will be placed at different points along the route, in pairs. This role will consist of pointing cyclists in the right direction, taking notes of the cyclist’s number as they pass through your point and using WhatsApp to stay in contact with the rest of the team.  

Car: Due to the nature of our event, it is essential for volunteers to have a car to get to their allocated point and return to the meeting point.  

Please dress for the weather on the day as you will be outside. Bring along with you a drink and possibly some lunch.
