Up to £1,000 available for Manchester International Women's Day 2015

Manchester City Council have grants of up to £1,000 for groups to host an event or activity on the theme of Breaking Through for Manchester International Women's Day 2015.

Women are overcoming obstacles to excel in sport, science, politics, religion, education, community activism, rights, health, media, legal and business affairs. Celebrate these achievements and apply for a grant.

If you live in the city of Manchester and have an idea for an event or activity that would educate, engage and inspire women.

Community on Solid Ground New Mentoring service launched for agencies

Community on Solid Ground are offering mentoring and divisionary activities to meet the needs of young people across Manchester aged 11-25. This is provided by experienced youth and mentoring practitioners.

Young people will explore a range of issues, identify interests, experience divisionary and inspirational activities, maintain a personal portfolio, and be assessed to explore changes in attitude and behaviour.

Central Manchester Clinical Commissioning Group - Community Engagement Events

There have been many changes to the NHS in recent years. One of those was the formation of Clinical Commissioning Groups, or CCGs in April 2013. CCGs are responsible for commissioning the best health services for the area they represent. This means that they plan, arrange and fund local health services.

Central Manchester CCG would like to invite you to attend one of their community engagement events taking place throughout October. You will be able to listen to their plans for the next 5 years and tell them how you would like to be involved in helping us to achieve these.

Consultation - Strengthening the law on domestic abuse

Domestic abuse is an appalling form of cruelty. Many people still do not see it as the serious crime it is. The Government defines domestic abuse as:
“any incident or pattern of incidents of controlling, coercive, threatening behaviour, violence or abuse between those aged 16 or over who are, or have been, intimate partners or family members regardless of gender or sexuality.”

The behaviour captured in this definition includes:
“…a pattern of acts of assault, threats, humiliation and intimidation or other abuse that is used to harm, punish, or frighten their victim”.

UK registered charities can apply for capital grant funding for building projects and/or for free professional property advice.

The building project can be anywhere in the UK, and can involve refurbishment, conversion, extension, new build and work to outdoor spaces. The spaces are to be used to provide support for children and/or young people up to 25 years old, who are experiencing social and/or economic disadvantages.
