Greater Manchester Systems Leadership: TED Talk Cinema Club
14th May 12:00 – 13:00 - Virtual - A space hosted by Collaborate out Loud
What is good governance?
Ben Warner’s TED Talk, "What is Good Governance?", explores the principles of effective governance and its impact on society. He argues that good governance is not just about rules and policies but about fostering trust, accountability, and inclusivity. Using real-world examples, Warner highlights how transparent decision-making, ethical leadership, and active citizen participation create stronger, more resilient communities. He emphasises that governance should be adaptive, data-driven, and responsive to people’s needs. Ultimately, he calls for a shift from top-down control to collaborative problem-solving, ensuring that governments serve the public good rather than political or personal interests.
The purpose of this session is to:
- Explore the principles of effective governance
- Connect people across GM working with governance
- Share practice learning and ideas for people to take away and work out what this means form them locally
