Assura Community Fund and Rugby League World Cup 2021 Grants Programme

fundingFunding to strengthen the capacity of UK charitable organisations using community rugby league facilities to deliver wellbeing activities for vulnerable people.

The Cheshire Community Foundation is working in partnership with Assura plc and the Rugby League World Cup 2021 (RLWC2021) to provide the £100,000 Assura Community Fund and Rugby League World Cup 2021 Grants Programme.

Grants of between £1,000 and £5,000 are available to UK registered charities and constituted voluntary groups to support the delivery of health and wellbeing projects taking place either at locations which are already receiving RLWC2021 CreatedBy grants or at community rugby league organisations based in the towns and cities that will host the RLWC2021, which are:

  • Bolton
  • Coventry
  • Doncaster
  • Hull
  • Kirklees
  • Leeds
  • Liverpool
  • London
  • Manchester
  • Newcastle
  • Sheffield
  • Preston
  • St Helens
  • Tees Valley
  • Trafford
  • Warrington
  • Wigan and Leigh
  • York

Eligible groups must be running community activities that can accept referrals from health care professionals.

Priority will be given to applications which:

  • Complement activities already provided by RLWC2021 community organisations or add value to RLWC2021 CreatedBy grants
  • Align well and complement the RLWC2021 Mental Fitness Charter
  • Can build strong working relationships with referral agencies - including community rugby league clubs, GPs, other primary care/health professionals and NHS Link Workers
  • Can demonstrate good practice and a clear rationale as to why the project activity would be successful and be able to record and demonstrate the impact of the activity
  • Provide opportunities for beneficiaries to get involved in the planning, design, delivery and evaluation
  • Demonstrate innovative approaches designed to respond to clearly defined needs

The funders welcome applications seeking to work with people who might not have appropriate support systems around them to access help, including disabled people; people from Black, Asian and minority ethnic (BAME) groups; lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered (LGBT) young people; people from lower social economic groups; children and people who may experience chaotic lifestyles.
