The Greater Manchester Disabled People’s Panel (GMDPP) is made up of Disabled People’s Organisations (DPO- that is organisations majority run and staffed by disabled people) across Greater Manchester. It operates at the highest strategic level with the GM Mayor Andy Burnham and GM Combined Authority to advise, consult, influence, and create policy with the aim to improve the lives of disabled people throughout GM. It was created after DPO’s led by the GM Coalition of Disabled People gained agreement to a disabled people’s manifesto from the Mayor.
Who is eligible to apply? Any organisation or group (membership is not open to lone individuals) that is majority run and/or staffed by disabled people and represents disabled people in their community and operates from a Social Model of Disability perspective or seeks to.
Who will be represented? The panel is particularly looking to take positive steps to recruit organisations/groups that represent disabled people and communities experiencing racial inequality and intersecting identities.
Where? You should be based in Greater Manchester (note there are representation gaps in Bolton, Trafford, Bury, Oldham).
GMDPP is pan impairment, and have a specific vacancy for an organisation representing Visually Impaired People.
