Manchester South Central Foodbank Free Christmas Day Meal
Do you know any adult/families in your service, group or community living in the Manchester or Old Trafford area, who are vulnerable, isolated or going to be on their own on Christmas Day and would benefit from some company? Manchester South Central Foodbank (Bridging the Gap) and Whalley Range Methodist Church are organising their annual Free Christmas Day meal for people who would be on their own or who would benefit from joining them on: 25 December 2017, 12pm-4pm at St Mary’s C.E. Levenshulme Good Neighbours is a local charity that helps older people to lead independent and fulfilling lives as active members of their community. Levenshulme Good Neighbours does this by recruiting volunteer befrienders from the local community who support older people in a wide range of social, emotional and practical ways. Manchester Care and Repair – seeks new board members
Could you make a contribution to this local charity? Do you have a background in business development, finance or fundraising? Would you get satisfaction from helping to direct a local charity? Manchester Care and Repair are aiming to broaden the networks and experience of the Board as they continue to develop links with local authority/health commissioners, and strengthen their expertise in business development, finance and fundraising. They also wish to reflect the diversity of their service users in their Board, and currently have under-representation from BME backgrounds at Board level. Deadline: 31 December 2017. Read more
Break The Silence – Breaking down barriers to referral
Yaran and Survivors are currently working together to offer support to BAME male survivors of sexual abuse, rape and sexual exploitation. They provide 1:1 confidential IAPT compliant counselling and psychotherapy to help men over the age of 18 to work through difficult, personal and sometimes painful issues. They assist them beyond the trauma and through their own unique healing process. Read more

Greater Manchester Festival of Ageing
Did you know that in July 2018 there will be a ‘Festival of Ageing’ across Greater Manchester? This will include lots of activities, fun and a huge celebration of diverse and positive experiences of ageing. Like all good festivals, there will be lots of music and food and things to do. Your ideas of fun things that can be organised during the festival are needed. Read more
Manchester Safeguarding Boards e-Bulletin Fourth edition – November 2017
The Manchester Safeguarding Boards (MSB) comprises the Manchester Safeguarding Adults Board (MSAB) and the Manchester Safeguarding Children Boards (MSCB). The Boards share an Independent Chair, Julia Stephens-Row; and are supported by the MSB Business Unit. The bulletin includes news, events, training opportunities and links to information and resources which is hoped to be of use to the multi-agency safeguarding workforce and the wider community across Manchester. Xaverian College Work Experience for Students
Students will leave Xaverian College with the academic skills needed to pursue their chosen career. However it is the practical, hands-on skills that can only be learnt on the job that their students seek, in order to help them to excel. Could you offer a student some relevant and constructive work experience? Xaverian College have BTEC students studying; Business, Computing, IT, Science, Health and Social Care and Sport that all need work experience as part of the vocational element of their studies – these students generally need a week long placement. JRF UK Poverty 2017 report shows sharp increase in child and pensioner poverty
UK Poverty 2017, a new report from the Joseph Rowntree Foundation, has found that almost 400,000 more children and 300,000 more pensioners are now living in poverty than in 2012/13. Since that year, there have been continued increases in poverty, across both age groups. Very little progress has been made in reducing poverty among working-age adults. Read more
