In response to the crisis in Ukraine, 10GM and partners are working together to put in place welcome and support for people arriving in Greater Manchester, working alongside local authorities and those who are offering to accommodate people arriving from Ukraine. To help this work we are launching the Greater Manchester Community Response Fund: Ukraine Crisis. This fundraising campaign will raise money to create a hardship fund for people arriving from Ukraine and to provide small grants to local voluntary, community and social enterprise organisations that are playing an active, practical role in providing support. You can help by donating and sharing with your friends, family and colleagues.

This meeting is a space for VCSE organisations to discuss their current venue needs, what challenges they may have had when re-opening organisational venues and to find out what asks and offers are available from VCSE organisations in Manchester. The next meeting will be on 6 July, 10.30am-12pm on Zoom. This meeting is open to any VCSE organisation working in Manchester and you do not need to have attended previous events to attend. Our annual Spirit of Manchester awards is a celebration of the work of thousands of voluntary organisations, community groups, charities and social enterprises in Manchester. We believe it's important to recognise, support and encourage volunteers and local voluntary action. This year is a special Spirit of Manchester Awards it is our 10th Anniversary. Our open non-competitive thank you category – People of Mcr is still open for nominations until 1 September

Anyone can nominate a registered charity, not-for-profit organisation, or community interest company in the UK, Republic of Ireland, Channel Islands or Isle of Man for the Movement for Good Awards and that one act could potentially mean an extra £1,000 to those trying to make a difference. The more nominations a charity receives, the greater their chance of winning. In September the next 250 charities will receive a £1,000 grant.

Funding is for UK based organisations using technology to transform how adults gain and maintain skills for work. The VocTech Seed Fund is currently accepting applications from organisations across all sectors, including charities, trade bodies, existing learning providers and employers. Grants of between £15,000 and £50,000 are available to support the exploration of new approaches to using technology to enable adult skills development. Deadline: 13 July, 5pm.

Funding is available for local groups to help with cost-of-living rise and refugees in the UK. The funding is for local projects and activities which are important to the community and benefit the lives of local residents. Grants of between £500 and £1,500 will support projects under four themes: Building resilient communities; Active lives; Seasonal celebrations and festivals; Leading healthier lives. Deadline: 19 August.

GreaterSport are seeking to appoint an organisation or collaborative to work alongside them and the Manchester and Trafford Local Care Organisation to increase knowledge and awareness of the benefits of moving more for non-medical staff and people working directly with communities so that it becomes an everyday part of what we do and what we talk about. Value of initial contract: £20,000, plus VAT July 2022 to August/September 2023. Deadline: 12 July.

4CT, North Manchester VCSE Partnership and East Manchester Youth and Play Partnership are working together to offer free training and support sessions open to all voluntary, community and social enterprise staff and volunteers in North Manchester and East Manchester. Upcoming courses: Leadership 5 July, 10am - 12.30pm; Intro to social media 6 July, 10am - 11.30am; Monitoring 28 September, 2pm - 4.30pm; Impact 20 October, 6pm - 8.30pm.

Communities in Control is a week of action that will showcase work taking place across Greater Manchester that shifts power and assets to people and communities. A programme of events during the first week of July kicks off with a panel discussion asking 'Community Ownership – a key ingredient in a thriving economy?

UK non-profit organisation Everything is Possible will once again salvage good quality reusable camping equipment at Leeds Festival with the help of their international volunteers. And they are offering local community organisations the opportunity to apply for this camping gear: tents, sleeping bags, roll mats and tonnes of camping items in good condition which have often only been used for one weekend during Leeds Festival.  Deadline to apply: 14 August.

The Turnpike Gallery is looking to recruit 3 early career socially engaged artists living and working in Greater Manchester to take part in A New Exchange Each successful applicant will be partnered with an artist who participated in the ‘Making of Us ’to deliver a project in collaboration with one of the three community partners. Alongside this, the 3 new artists will undertake training, mentoring, peer to peer learning and reflective practice. Deadline for applications: 4 July, 5pm.

Whether setting up a foodbank or planning finances, we all need a little help at times. My Community is the go-to place for this support. All the content on My Community has been curated, written, designed or hand-picked by leading voluntary sector organisations who truly understand what communities need to survive and thrive.

The government is committed to improving mental health and wellbeing outcomes, particularly for people who experience worse outcomes than the general population. To support the development of a cross-government mental health strategy, the Department of Health and Social Care has published a discussion paper to start a national conversation about mental health. This discussion paper is an online public survey and will run until 5 July.

Swim England are currently undertaking one of their most important pieces of work which looks to provide more opportunities for diverse ethnic groups to access swimming and also for communities to change their perception that swimming is not for them. To help them inform their future strategy, they have released a short survey. Sporting Equals are keen for the voices of the community to be heard and encourage as many people as possible to fill in this survey and help shape the future of swimming in this country for all.

This long-term study on voluntary and community organisations, social enterprises, cooperatives, societies and clubs started in 2010. A lot has happened in the North West since the survey was last conducted in 2019. So it's time to find out what has changed in the last three years.
