Greater Manchester Combined Authority has secured over £680,000 of funding from the Home Office to help provide services that support some of the most vulnerable women and girls across the city-region, including those who have been victim of domestic abuse, rape and other sexual offences.
Greater Manchester Violence Reduction Unit are seeking to award a contract for the codesign element of their Youth Endowment Fund programme – Another chance. This will involve working with the communities who are impacted by the programme to develop the messages which will be used in resources and communications.
The National Criminal Justice Arts Alliance (NCJAA) is now inviting applications for its 2023 mentoring scheme. Applications are now being accepted for mentors and mentees to join the NCJAA professional mentoring scheme for 2023-24.
The Greater Manchester Violence Reduction Unit are finding out what people who live, work and study in Greater Manchester think about violence, and the impact violence may have had on them. Greater Manchester is made up of 10 boroughs: Bolton, Bury, Manchester, Oldham, Rochdale, Salford, Stockport, Tameside, Trafford, and Wigan.
The survey should take about 15-20 minutes to complete.
In the last 12 months in Greater Manchester, there were fewer than 90 hospital admissions due to assault by sharp objects among victims aged under25 (down by 17% compared to 2021, and down by 26% compared to the year pre-covid), and a significant decrease in homicides (down by 27% compared to 2021), and knife enabled homicides (down by 19% compared to 2021).
A research team from the University of Manchester, collaborating with two North-West police forces, is conducting a study on the experiences, perceptions, and fear of abuse faced by women who run or jog. This includes verbal abuse, cat-calling, being followed or flashed at, as well as physical and sexual assaults.
Become United have launched a BAME Domestic Violence information pack for victims, including awareness details and local support services within Greater Manchester.
