Women and Girls Active Travel Small Grants fund to support community groups across Greater Manchester to encourage more women and girls to cycle and make active travel part of everyday journeys.
This fund supports small, practical activities or one off purchases that help remove barriers women and girls face to cycling, such as confidence, access to equipment, awareness of routes or safety concerns. The grants form part of a wider Women and Girls Active Travel campaign launching in Summer 2026.
When should activity take place?
This is a short term, one off fund linked to the Summer 2026 campaign. Transport for Greater Manchester expect funded activity to take place soon after funding is awarded, ideally between June and September 2026, with some flexibility where appropriate.
Successful applicants can receive:
- Grant funding of up to £2,000
- Support and advice from the TfGM Active Travel team
- Opportunities for visibility through campaign activity, where appropriate
Activities could include (but are not limited to):
- Led rides or confidence-building sessions
- One-off events, taster sessions or family cycle days
- Skills, awareness or community led activities
- Equipment purchases to enable participation
- Creative or community led projects that promote cycling
The fund is open to voluntary and community organisations, charities, social enterprises, schools and other groups working with women and girls.
