Funding available to employ Manchester Metropolitan University graduates

MMU’s graduate internship scheme ‘GradMatch’ helps organisations across the North West to recruit a recent graduate for at least 8 weeks and receive £1000 towards their salary. MMU’s Employer Liaison Team offers support with the job description, promotion and provides organisations with a shortlist of suitable graduates. Organisations are asked to contribute an additional £1,000 to provide the graduate with the National Minimum Wage during their internship.

Volunteer Peer Mentor and Befriender at Manchester Carers Forum

Manchester Carers Forum are looking for volunteers for the Peer Mentoring and Befriending Project, to visit carers on a one to one basis and provide flexible support.

You will be able to signpost to local services which may be of benefit to the carer, making them aware of the support available and help prevent isolation.

Experience of caring in a non professional capacity is required.

End of Life Care Strategy: Focus Groups

Pennine Acute Hospital Trust is currently developing an End of Life Care Strategy. The Trust is interested in feedback from families and carers who have experience of services provided by the Trust in relation to End of Life Care.

The Trust will be holding two focus groups in October to gather service experiences and would encourage people to attend to share their feedback so that they can provide excellent care and meet the needs of patients, families and carers.

University Hospital South Manchester events to launch the new community services specifications

UHSM (University Hospital South Manchester) have put together a programme of events to launch the new community services specifications during September/October and would like to invite local voluntary and community organisations to be involved.

There will be a range of activities across a four week period with each week concentrating on a specific theme.

General Out of Hospital Community Services: 19 October

Domestic Violence and Abuse (DV&A) Grant 2015/16

Manchester City Council has been awarded £110,000 by the Police Innovation Fund to support domestic violence and abuse (DV&A) victims in the City. There are three distinct elements within the grant programme:

Early Help/Prevention
£40,000 of this money is to develop an early help/prevention service for low and medium risk cases of DV&A. At the moment there are no interventions available for low to medium risk couples who choose to stay together.

Domestic Violence and Abuse (DV&A) Awareness Training Grant 2015/16

Manchester City Council has £20,000 to develop and deliver training in domestic violence and abuse (DV&A) awareness for Early Help Hub staff and Social Work teams. The full funding of £20,000 will be awarded to one successful applicant to provide a training programme for frontline workers. The programme will need to be delivered to all Early Help Hub staff and Social Work teams in local area venues arranged by MCC.
