The Charity Commission has announced changes to the annual return, the tool it uses to hold charities accountable to the public.
The regulator says the changes, which will apply when charities report on their financial years ending in 2015, will strengthen its ability to identify risk and will ensure people have access to the information they need to make confident decisions about charities.
The annual return 2015 will include three new question areas, which received broad support in the consultation:
The Shop Direct Charitable Foundation aims to support charities, voluntary and community groups who work with, or run projects for, children and young people.
The focus of the fund is to create safe and inspiring environments for children and young people that impact positively on local social need.
Grants of between £2,000 and £7,000 are available.
What can be funded?
Core costs if there is a sustainability plan in place, capital costs but not in relation to building refurbishment or vehicles.
Strong and healthy organisations need well-trained staff and members to operate effectively.

The Golden Bottle Trust and the Bulldog Trust are seeking to make small to medium sized grants (£1,000 - £30,000 over a maximum of 3 years) to new and existing organisations to enable them to get closer to achieving their goals.
For many organisations looking to finance new projects, seeking funding can be extremely difficult and in some cases, impossible.
