Description of opportunity:

Across the City a community of charities, businesses, community groups and the Council have all come together to make sure people have the support that is needed during this challenging time.

As part of its community support offer during Covid-19, Manchester City Council has established a Food Response Team to provide people with access to food items who are affected by the coronavirus outbreak. The Food Response Team urgently requires volunteer drivers to pick up and deliver food parcels across the city.

What the role involves:

  • Picking up food parcels from food providers across Fallowfield, Hulme and Whalley Range
  • Delivering food parcels to individuals and families across South and Central Manchester

Volunteers are expected to:

  • Be over 25 years old and have a clean, valid driving licence with access to a car (photo evidence of driving licence will be required)
  • Be able to commit to a regular shift, one morning or afternoon per week (minimum 3 hours)
  • Be organised and punctual
  • Have a friendly, non-judgmental attitude
  • A reference is desirable, but not essential
