Description of opportunity:

 

Rainbow Surprise CIO provides skills for life, inspiring activities and diverse services to meet the needs of local people and create a strong and vibrant community. More specifically, to run events that brings people from different faiths and cultures together to improve community cohesion.

We run a food drive (food bank) where we collect end of day surplus food from the local supermarkets and distribute it to families, elderly or anyone who is in need of that extra bit of help.
 

Volunteers are expected to:

  • Be aged 18 or over with a full, clean driver's license
  • Have an interest our work and our values
  • Be physically mobile enough to move food parcels in and out of your car
  • Have good communication skills
  • Be reliable and have the ability to commit to a regular pre-agreed volunteer shifts each week - volunteer shifts are on Mondays and Thursdays from 12:30pm
  • Collect food parcels from Crumpsall Community Hall and deliver to residents in North Manchester

 

Rainbow Surprise will offer volunteers:

  • Travel expense of £5 per day towards fuel costs
  • The opportunity to give practical help to support isolated and vulnerable members of the community in North Manchester
