Description of opportunity:

 

The Pankhurst Trust / Manchester Women’s Aid are looking for qualified volunteer counsellors to provide counselling to clients who have experienced domestic abuse. Counselling will currently be remote (either telephone or through secure online calling services). 

Please note, this post is open to women only under the Equality Act 2010, schedule 9, part 1.
 

We are looking for qualified counsellors to: 

  • Provide remote counselling (until safe to return to face-to-face) with individuals referred through the Manchester Women's Aid (MWA) services
  • Keep confidential records
  • Build a relationship of trust and respect with clients
  • Support with any monitoring requirements and reporting any concerns to MWA staff
  • Support the client to complete evaluations after accessing the service

We are looking for volunteers who:

  • Have a clinical supervisor and their own practice insurance
  • Have BACP membership (or another appropriate professional body)
  • Have Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Are friendly, approachable, enthusiastic and sensitive
  • Will adhere to safeguarding best practice
  • Are happy to undergo a DBS check
  • (desirable) knowledge of domestic abuse
