Employment Support Volunteer

Breaking Barriers are looking for a skilled and passionate employment support volunteer who is willing to commit to 2-4 sessions (3-6 hours) per month, ad hoc. Each session is around 1.5 hours.

They are currently looking for employment support volunteers who have experience in the construction sector, the technology sector, the legal sector, and the human health and social work. If you have experience or knowledge in any of these sectors, you will be giving advice to refugees who are interested in working in these sectors.The goal is to help them achieve their goals and support them in their journey to find meaningful employment.
 

Breaking Barriers offers a unique approach to helping refugees in London find meaningful employment, and thus rebuild their lives and integrate into their new home. Our vision is that every refugee in London can integrate into their new home through employment that matches their skills, experience, and desire to work. Our mission is to help refugees in London acquire the knowledge, confidence, and experience to get stable, fulfilling employment.

Sector Specific Volunteers help refugees and people with refugee backgrounds to achieve their career aspirations. When a client has an interest in a certain career path, we pair them with a volunteer who has knowledge and experience of that sector to provide targeted support and address specific goals. Volunteers have 1:1 meetings with clients to support clients in their specialised area. The goal is to help clients achieve their goals and support them in their journey to find meaningful employment. 

This position is remote. Sessions will be online via Zoom, or a phone call.
