Description of opportunity:

Migrant Support’s purpose and objective is the promotion of social inclusion for the public benefit among migrants, including refugees and asylum seekers, who are socially excluded on the grounds of their social and economic position: by identifying needs and where necessary providing support for migrants to advance their education, promote their health and well-being and relieve financial hardship: and by educating the public to promote greater acceptance and understanding of migrants and their contribution to British society.

The charity works to get closer to a world where all people from migrant/refugee backgrounds are free to start a new life equally and know their worthiness and power as individuals despite their immigration background. We aim to tell their stories and to provide positive and reassuring messages of integration and social cohesion to British society.

The charity’s work is based in the North of England focusing on the Greater Manchester area. Recently MS celebrated its 10th year anniversary. We want to ensure that people are able to fully engage with our mission. Collaborative work is at the heart and we are looking for dynamic individuals who will challenge, help shape the future and support the delivery of the organisation.

To that end, we are looking to appoint a trustee with experience in finance to oversee our budgets, providing advice, scrutiny and support to the charity. You will also be responsible for developing applications to trusts and foundations to help gain required funding.
