Volunteer Arts & Crafts Youth Worker

Manchester HideOut Youth Zone provides a safe, inspiring place for young people aged 8-19, and up to 25 for those with additional needs, to spend their leisure time. HideOut Youth Zone is open 7 days a week, offering over 20 creative and sporting activities every night for just 50p per visit.

Our passionate volunteers help us to empower young people in a variety of meaningful ways. From frontline fundraising, to cooking up a storm in our cooking classes; from sitting on the board of trustees, to standing in as goalkeeper on the football pitch; from coaching in the boxing ring, to just having a meaningful conversation with a young person: our volunteers really do cover all the bases!

Our Volunteer Arts and Crafts Youth Workers help us to deliver arts and crafts sessions that bring young people together to celebrate creativity. They support young people’s creative skills and encourage them to explore new ideas through art to build their confidence, social skills and overall wellbeing. 

WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT TO BE DOING?

• Helping to deliver sessions experimenting with different types of arts and crafts, such as; drawing, painting, textiles, costume design, collaging and design technology.
• Motivating young people to participate and enjoy their sessions
• Building positive relationships with young people across the youth zone
• Working collaboratively with the Arts Coordinator and other members of staff to support the delivery of sessions
• Supporting young people with additional needs
• Acting as a positive role model for young people
• Promoting an inclusive culture where all young people are listened to, valued, and cared for

• Interest or experience in Arts & Crafts would be great but if not, a willingness to learn and passion to get involved
