Who we are:

Established in 1846, Manchester Deaf Centre is the largest local organisation to provide support to the local deaf community and beyond in Greater Manchester. We host a variety of services and groups that offer support, learning and training opportunities, social events and much more.

 

What are we looking for?

Are you d/Deaf, hard of hearing, deafened, deafblind or a CODA and have a strong understanding of BSL and Deaf culture? Or are you hearing with a strong background of at least ten years of being closely involved within the d/Deaf community?

 

Are you dedicated, reliable and passionate about supporting Manchester Deaf Centre’s work and our local d/Deaf community? … This is your chance to make a huge difference to an amazing charity!

 

Do you have:

 

  • Strong leadership skills?
  • Experience in chairing meetings in your professional or personal life?
  • Working knowledge of all aspects of charity governance?
  • Ability to formulate strategic plans, goals, and objectives?
  • Skills in motivating, and enthusing others, as well as promoting team working?

What would you be doing as a volunteer?

Manchester Deaf Centre’s Board of Trustees is looking for a Chair to lead our Board. You will need to be available for regular contact with the Co Directors, as well as providing them with regular supervision sessions. You will also be responsible for setting the agenda for and chairing quarterly Board meetings held at the Manchester Deaf Centre or online via Zoom. This role is unpaid; reasonable travel expenses can be claimed.
