What are we looking for?
This is intended as a fun development opportunity for someone wanting to develop as a social media producer/content designer. We are looking for an enthusiastic, creative and reliable volunteer to help us improve our social media reach, engagement and impact for the rest of 2026. Together, we will draw up a schedule of content for 2026. We have a long list of possible content and themes already.
Who we are:
We are a small Manchester based electronic music/heritage charity, elevating the legacy of Delia Derbyshire (1937-2001) as a catalyst for empowerment now. We think Delia was a pioneer of electronic music, whose most famous work is her iconic production of the original Doctor Who theme in 1963. Delia consistently inspires kids of all ages to access the arts and heritage, developing creative and technical skills.

What would you be doing as a volunteer?
We want to maintain and continue to build our social media presence, making sure we are presenting our work in an accessible and inspiring way that encourages interaction. Our online community will therefore be keen to get involved with our organisation and support our work. You will enjoy creating social media content across Instagram, Facebook, Bluesky and LinkedIn. We can give you access to Canva and we use the free VN video editing software.
Together, we will draw up a schedule of content for 2026. We have a long list of possible content and themes already. Maybe you would like to run a campaign for DD Day 2026 (celebrated annually online on November 23).
Commitment: minimum 3 hours per month, maximum is up to you.
You will ideally be based in North West England, near Manchester though most work will be remote, so you can live anywhere in the UK.
What you get:
- Build your portfolio of social media design and comms experience
- Flexible working arrangement, agreed to suit you
- Experience building an online community with a variety of content and engagement strategies
- Support from our director Caro who has a lot of experience of managing social media volunteers and producers
- Reasonable expenses for travel and refreshments when needed for in-person meeting
- A fun and inspiring dive into the world of Delia Derbyshire and Delia Derbyshire Day
- A rewarding experience, helping a small arts charity survive and thrive
- A reference for future career progression – our previous social media volunteer secured a job in Comms after working with us
