2 x Family Support Workers at Fortalice

Fortalice was established in 1977 to provide emergency accommodation and support for women and children experiencing domestic abuse within their own homes.

The project has expanded over the years and now provides a wide range of services for adult victims, children and young people within both refuge and support centre settings.       The ethos of Fortalice in relation to support is to focus on self-help, promoting self-esteem, confidence and independence to enable women to break free from abusive relationships and reduce the chance of re-victimisation thus moving on to a self-sustaining, independent life.

The post will involve ensuring a whole family approach, including specialised children’s work. Working in conjunction with the Adult Team of Family Support Workers assisting with the provision of housing management and support services and ensure compliance with individual support plans. Workers will contribute to the support and well-being of resident women, children and young people to ensure their stay at the Refuge is a positive experience.

The hours for both posts will be variable to meet the needs of the organisation. The hours worked will be flexible and will include unsociable hours, weekends and possibly some night shifts.

Women only applicants can apply for the post as this is an occupational requirement in accordance with paragraph 1, schedule 9 of the Equality Act under section 7.2e of the Equality Act 2010.

A current valid driving licence and access to a vehicle for work is essential.

The post will be subject to a DBS check due to the nature of the work undertaken by the organisation.

Interviews will be held week commencing 4 February 2019.
