Finance Officer at The Greater Manchester Law Centre

The Greater Manchester Law Centre (GMLC) is seeking to recruit a flexible and experienced accounts worker who is willing to learn how to administer a Legal Aid Contract. You will need to be committed to GMLC's values and be happy to be part of GMLC's campaign “fighting together for free access to justice”.

GMLC are looking for someone who shares their commitment to free access to justice and is an experienced finance worker who can process and maintain records of everyday accounts transactions using accounting software and spreadsheets. Some understanding of the voluntary sector and grant funding would be useful. The role also incorporates legal aid contract administration, but no experience of this is necessary as full training can be given.

There is flexibility about how the hours are spread through the week. 

Duties
1. To process accounts transactions using SAGE accounting software
2. To carry out bank reconciliations
3. Monitor and process incoming monies
4. To process payments to suppliers, mainly using online banking
5. Maintain GMLC petty cash system
6. To maintain accounts records and filing
7. To monitor grant and project funding in line with funders requirements
8. To maintain accounts and Legal Aid related spreadsheets
9. To, following training, open legal aid files and assist with the maintenance of a case management database
10. To prepare reports for meetings as required
11. To liaise with and assist GMLC’s Treasurer as required
12. To work in line with the Charity Commission, Company’s House, Legal Aid Agency, and Lexcel quality mark requirements
13. To attend meetings and training as required
14. To undertake any other duties commensurate with the post
