Skill Givers Project Support

Skill Givers is an employer supported volunteering project. The aim is to connect employers who offer their employees volunteering days and local voluntary and community groups, charities and social enterprises who support their community to get active and would benefit from some short-term skilled support.

Skill Givers is funded by Sport England and delivered by Macc and Salford CVS working together in partnership.

Volunteering Opportunity: Skill Givers Project Support

Main Purpose:

To provide support to the Skill Givers Project Coordinator in the delivery of the Skill Givers Project by:

  • raising awareness of the project
  • building connections with sports clubs and local voluntary and community groups, charities and social enterprises who provide less traditional forms of physical activity to the community supporting groups to sign-up to the project/write volunteering opportunities
  • supporting with the promotion of the Skill Givers project to volunteers via social media, events etc

Skills / Qualities:

The following skills, knowledge and experience are relevant to this opportunity:

  • The ability to plan and organise your own workload, managing time effectively
  • The ability to confidently engage with people from a wide range of social, cultural and ethnic backgrounds about the Skill Givers project
  • A good standard of general I.T. skills with office applications and use of the internet
  • Attention to detail
  • Willingness to undertake training
  • Good research skills
  • Previous experience of engaging with sports clubs or knowledge about how to do this effectively would be beneficial to the role.

You will gain the following skills, knowledge and experience:

  • An insight into employer supported volunteering programmes - how they are currently used, how they could be improved and how to encourage employee involvement.
  • Experience of supporting people to think differently about volunteering and structuring tasks.
  • Supporting groups to write good volunteering opportunities.
  • Experience of planning social media campaigns.
  • The ability to engage with people from a wide range of social, cultural and ethnic backgrounds
  • Knowledge of voluntary sector issues such as funding and organisational development
  • An understanding of the role and contribution of the voluntary and community sector in delivering services
  • Experience of setting up and maintaining appropriate systems for the management of work to achieve agreed objectives
  • Experience of monitoring and evaluation of activities
