The Silver Community Reporter training is accredited by the Institute of Community Reporters and participants become part of wider network of Community. It is a three day programme for up to eight participants. Participants will:
- Learn how to use the equipment - flip camera
- Produce a storyboard
- Collect the content
- Edit the film on free editing software
- Upload the film to the Community Reporter website which will feed to the MyManchester website on a page dedicated to the project and linked to from the Manchester Community Central website
- Become a member of the Community Reporter network as a Manchester Community Reporter and be able to borrow equipment from Macc, get peer support, upload future content to the Community Reporter/My Manchester website and potentially get commissioned to do work on projects as a Manchester Community Reporter
Ongoing support
We would also offer a day of extra support for each participant - to discuss new ideas for films, give extra editing support and help, etc. This will encourage participants to continue to produce content. There will be future group meet ups as well to encourage peer support and learning.
If community organisations wish to use the content to encourage donations we can create a Give Locally page.
What participants will get out of it
- You will get the chance to tell your story
- You will gain new skills and confidence to continue to produce content
- You will be an accredited Community Reporter and get a certificat and badge
- You will become part of a network that can offer ongoing peer support
- You will have access to the technology to continue to capture your story
