What is it?
It is a system involving hardware and software which adds interactivity to meetings, conferences, consultation events, awards ceremonies or other group interactions. This is an excellent way to quickly and effectively gauge the reactions of an audience and to enjoy genuine two way communication between the presenter and the audience.
How do voting keypads work? 
Attendees at events are provided with access to a wireless voting keypad with which voting selections or responses can be made. Each keypad communicates wirelessly via a USB receiver which is in turn connected to a central computer. When the attendees are asked to provide answers to set questions or are requested to vote using the keypads their information is aggregated by the computer and the data/results can be instantly displayed 'on the main screen' (e.g. via a data projector).
Audience response gives everyone a voice and the ability to participate
There are many benefits of using an Audience Response and Voting System. With more traditional methods for gaining audience feedback, such as asking for a show of hands, research has shown there can be a tendency to follow the crowd. The system enables each attendee to answer whichever questions are set honestly and without influence. This gives the system an unrivalled level of accuracy in relation to the results that they achieve.
Designing Presentations
The Audience Response and Voting System is a complete audience response solution that is completely integrated with Microsoft PowerPoint. If you can build a PowerPoint presentation then you already know how to make it interactive and make full use of the systems capabilities. Adding sophisticated interactivity to your presentations is as simple and easy as creating any other type of slide. The software works with Microsoft PowerPoint 2007, 2010 or 2013. The software also enables results to be displayed almost immediately and in various graph formats and generate reports in Word and Excel.
Example of the Audience Response and Voting System in use
Macc utilises the Audience Response and Voting System as part of its annual Spirit of Manchester Awards event. The Spirit of Manchester Awards is a series of awards celebrating and highlighting all the excellent work being carried out in Manchester’s voluntary and community sector. The system is integral to the delivery of the awards evening. Attendees watch short films highlighting the work of groups and individuals nominated for one of the ten award categories. The use of the system and keypads enables the attendees to anonymously and quickly vote for their favourite nomination. The category winners are selected based on the highest number of votes cast on the night i.e. full audience participation!
What are the hire options?
Our Audience Response and Voting System is available to hire to Manchester based VCSE organisations only. There are two hire options available however these can be adapted to meet your specific requirements.
1) Equipment only hire - Option suitable for small events e.g. focus group consultations or meetings
- Laptop computer and software hire with clients voting presentation preloaded
- Voting keypad hire (maximum 50 handsets)
- Electronic voting system USB ‘stick’ style receiver hire
- Training provided to client (up to 2 hours) on how to set up and use the equipment, software and your presentation. *Once the training has been provided this may not be required for future hire of the equipment.
2) Fully supported hire - Option suitable for larger events e.g. awards ceremonies or conferences
- Laptop computer (with software) hire with clients voting presentation preloaded
- Voting keypad hire (maximum 200 handsets)
- Electronic voting system USB ‘stick’ style receiver hire
- Technician in attendance at the client’s event to set up and manage the use of the system
