On Thursday 20 September Macc are holding a launch event at the Mechanics Institute to let you all know what we can offer your organisation.

Keynote speakers at the event will include Mike Wild, Director at Macc and Alex Whinnom, Director at GMCVO. Further speakers will be announced soon.

Workshops
There will be workshops running on the day that will update you on Macc’s areas of work and what we can offer you:

Commissioning - Improving commissioning in Manchester
Delivered by Mike Wild
In a time of cuts to public spending is commissioning becoming less important? We don’t think so! This workshop is an introduction to Macc’s new programme of work to develop commissioning in Manchester. It will include details of the resources we’re making available for voluntary and community sector organisations engaging with commissioning and Macc’s role in working with and influencing commissioners.

Capacity Building - Surviving and thriving in a competitive environment
Delivered by Mike Blaney, Michelle Foster, Cheryl McAlister, Tracey Rawlins, Alison Tansey and Sarah Whitelegg
Come along to the workshop to find out about developing a sustainable income stream, understanding the funding climate, find out all you need to know when applying for funding and four what’s and a why to a successful funding application.

Policy and Voice
Delivered by John Butler, Mary Duncan and Nicola Shanahan
This workshop is designed to inform you about the work that goes on in the policy and voice team. The workshop will focus on developing partnerships, co-production and developing a VCS voice and strategic influence. The workshop will cover the current context around public spending review, commissioning priorities, public sector reforms and maximising independence.

Voluntary and Community Sector Assembly
Delivered by Walt Crowson and Ross Grant
The new Voluntary and Community Sector Assembly will provide an opportunity for the local sector to understand address the challenges facing the communities in Manchester and to ensure that issues important to the sector are brought to the fore. It will provide a space for groups to meet and exchange information, ideas and good practice. Come along to this workshop to find out more about plans for the Assembly and how you can get involved.

Volunteering - Being the best volunteer involving organisation you can be
Delivered by Charlotte Cooke and Mark Pritchard
Volunteer Centre Manchester will discuss its offer of support to you and to your volunteers. The team are here whether you have involved volunteers for years, have no paid staff or are just starting to think about taking on new volunteers.

The event will also include a Question and Answer session with Mike Wild, Director at Macc and a Macc Board Member who will answer any questions you have. You can submit questions to ask at the session when you register to attend online.

We will be launching our membership scheme on the day and you can visit the membership stall for further information about becoming a member and how to join.

There will also be stalls where you can find out about the Voluntary Sector Assembly and take a tour of developments on the Manchester Community Central website and the new Macc website.

At 3.15pm Macc will be holding its Business AGM, all are welcome to attend but only members are eligible to vote. Refreshments will be provided.
