Manchester Joint Strategic Needs Assessment

The Joint Strategic Needs Assessment (JSNA) analyses the health needs of populations to inform and guide commissioning of health, well-being and social care services within local authority areas. The main goal of the Manchester JSNA is to accurately assess the health needs of the population in order to improve the physical and mental health and well-being of individuals and communities.

Joint Strategic Needs Assessment Agreement between Manchester Health and Wellbeing Board and the Voluntary and Community Sector
This agreement provides a framework governing the respective roles of the Manchester Health and Wellbeing Board and the Voluntary and Community Sector (VCS) in helping to produce and further develop the Joint Strategic Needs Assessment (JSNA) for Manchester. It has been produced in recognition of the fact that the role of the VCS in the development of the JSNA is crucial but historically under-developed in Manchester and it is hoped that, through the adoption of the principles contained within the compact by both parties, this aspect of the JSNA process can be improved in the future.

Topics in development
Manchester City Council are seeking to make the The Joint Strategic Needs Assessment (JSNA) a ‘living’ process in which new topics are being developed with contributions and input from a wide range of stakeholders. In order to achieve that, Manchester City Council are looking to add new topics to the website on a regular basis, first for consultation on their draft, followed by the version finalised by the topic lead.
