Wythenshawe Good Neighbors: Telephone Befriending

This role is closed for applications.
This organisation has asked to be sent a limited number of applications at one time to help them manage the safe recruitment of volunteers. For this reason, we ask people to NOT contact the group directly, we will re-open the role when they have the capacity to recruit more volunteers.

Wythenshawe Good Neighbours (WGN) is a volunteer led community initiative that brings together older members of the community by hosting coffee mornings, lunches and afternoon teas in social spaces around Wythenshawe. In response to the Covid-19 outbreak they have decided to extend their telephone befriending service and offer regular “how are you?” phone calls to any self isolating person who feels that they would benefit.

They need volunteers to support their telephoning befriending services, making regular short phone calls to isolated people to lift their spirits and keep them connected to their community.

Initally, they are wanting to recruit ten volunteers, therefore we will be sending them the details of the first ten applicants. As they anticipate needing plenty of telephone befrienders over the next few weeks it is likely that we will reopen this opportunity for further registrations at a later date.

You can watch this video to help you understand what telephone befriending involves.
