GMPA: Mapping local child and family poverty strategies

Greater Manchester Poverty Action (GMPA) have launched: Mapping local child and family poverty strategies a new resource that maps local child and family poverty strategies across England. The aim is to support local authorities and their partners, to identify best practice and to understand the approaches to tackling poverty being taken in different parts of the country. Public sector funding of VCSE organisations in Greater Manchester

In May 2017 the Greater Manchester Health and Social Care Partnership signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise (VCSE) Sector. The MoU contains a set of principles to enable the VCSE sector to play an important role in Health and Social Care devolution in Greater Manchester (GM). Some of these principles are aimed at encouraging public sector commissioners to increase the level of funding into the VCSE sector across GM.

Small charity leadership survey by the Weston Charity Awards

You are invited to take part in a short survey of charity leaders for the Weston Charity Awards – which Pilotlight run in partnership with the Garfield Weston Foundation. Your answers will help the organisations to better understand the needs of the sector.

The survey will take approximately 5 minutes to complete and all of your responses will be analysed anonymously. As a small incentive, a donor has provided a 32GB Apple IPad, which will be won by one person picked at random from those who choose to enter.

Study into health and well-being of older people

The University of Manchester are investigating the health and well-being benefits of green space in cities for older people. (‘Green space' means trees, parks, woodland, ponds, rivers, canals, allotments, and so on.) University of Manchester

The research team are looking for people who are 65 or over who might be interested in taking part in a study that surveys reasons for valuing green space.

Take part in the GM Mayoral Communities Challenge

The Mayoral Communities Challenge consists of two phases. Ambition for ageing

Phase one focuses on communities and neighbourhoods and will concentrate on looking at age-friendly places across Greater Manchester that are making a difference to older people’s everyday lives. The deadline for all phase one submissions is midnight, Saturday 1 December 2018.
