This course is designed to meet the needs of small low risk workplaces.

Maximum number of 2 persons per organisation.
Attendees must be a volunteer or member of a voluntary community group within the city of Manchester.

Who is it for?
Persons given the role of Emergency First Aider.
Topics covered:
- The role of the first aider including reference to the use of available equipment and the need for recording incidents and actions
- The importance of basic hygiene in first-aid procedures
- Assessing the situation and circumstances in order to act safely, promptly and effectively in an emergency
- Administering first aid to a casualty who is unconscious and / or in seizure
- Cardiopulmonary resuscitation
- Administering first aid to a casualty who is wounded or bleeding and / or in shock
- Administering first aid to a casulaty who is choking
- Providing appropriate first aid for minor injuries
- Client Specific areas (such as emotional trauma following first aid incidents)
Assessment:
Delegates are assessed continually throughout the course. Successful delegates will receive an Ouch certificate of competence valid for 3 years.
Duration:
6 hours (1 day) - participants must complete the full 6 hours to receive their certificate.
After completing this course the HSE strongly recommend that delegates attend an annual refresher course.
