Charity Governance Awards 2021

10 Dec 2020 - 15:36 by michelle.foster

charity governance awardsThe Charity Governance Awards is an exciting not-for-profit initiative created to celebrate outstanding governance and trusteeship in charities across the UK, allowing large and small not-for-profit organisations to inspire and learn from one another. Effective governance makes a difference. By sharing examples of inspirational trustees and brilliant boards the awards will show how good governance and doing good go hand-in-hand.

For 2021, the Charity Governance Awards will recognise inspirational success stories of charity boards responding to the Covid-19 crisis from the frontline of the pandemic with a new category, ‘Covid-19: Embracing Opportunity and Harnessing Risk’. It is one of five categories in the Charity Governance Awards 2021 programme. Charity boards demonstrating outstanding governance and trusteeship in areas including diversity, digital and improving impact are urged to share their own examples of best practice.

National and local charities, large and small, are encouraged to share their stories.

The Charity Governance Awards are open to any charity registered in the UK; entries are free and easy to submit online, and accepted between November and January each year. The shortlist is announced in April, and shortlisted charities are invited to a complimentary and exclusive awards ceremony in May, where the winners are announced.

Prizes

  • The winner of each category will receive a £5,000 unrestricted grant as a prize.
  • Runners-up will receive cash prizes for the first time (£1,000 each)
  • All shortlisted charities will be offered a paid one-year membership to the Association of Chairs for their board as well as a complimentary place on a Cause4 Trustee Leadership Programme for a new trustee
