Last summer, Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) offered small businesses and community interest groups across Greater Manchester grants towards the purchase of cargo bikes and trailers which would allow them to replace or significantly reduce their reliance on a motor vehicle.
Through the grant scheme TfGM supported 50 organisations and funded 60 new cargo bike solutions. To celebrate that success and the local organisations embracing the capability, versatility and sustainability of cargo bikes, TfGM are hosting the Bee Network Pedal Powered Family Fun Day, event entry and activities are all free.
There will be a range of activities and workshops that people can take part in, including circus and skateboarding skills, dance and theatre workshops, ceramics and textile workshops, bike repairs and cargo bike try outs.
All stands will be run by businesses who use cargo bikes in delivery of their services and they will be on hand to share their experiences of using a cargo bike, along with a number of cargo bike logistics service providers and Manchester Bikes to offer help, advice and try-outs to help people find a cargo bike logistics solution for them.
