Volunteer Gallery Assistants

Volunteer Gallery Assistants at Castlefield Gallery can get involved and gain experience in; gallery administration, exhibition installation, art handling, front-of-house and visitor services plus much more.

Our volunteers' primary task is to invigilate the exhibition throughout the week, being the first point of contact and front of house for the gallery. You will work alongside the gallery staff and have the opportunity to help out with exhibition changeover and installation, as well as various events the gallery runs from VIP previews to artist talks.

Volunteering at Castlefield Gallery is valuable for those wanting to develop a career in the arts sector, curation and gallery administration. It is also valuable to artists who are developing their own practice, as well as anybody who simply has an interest in art or wants to help out a registered charity!

Castlefield Gallery needs volunteer gallery assistants who are personable, hard working, punctual and reliable.

You should be available to volunteer for at least 1 day per month (6.5 hours) for a minimum of three months. However for volunteers to get the best experience 3-4 days per month over a longer period of time is recommended.

Please note, you must be over 18 to volunteer with us.
