Description of opportunity:

MDF is a volunteer-led project, so there's lots of different roles and differerent ways you may be able to get involved.  MDF is hosted by Macc, and overseen by the Migration and Destitution Action Group, part of the Manchester Homelessness Partnership.  This group comprises people with lived experience of migrant destitution, as well as representatives of third-sector organisations, and people bringing creative or fundraising experince.

We meet once a month, usually 10.30am on the first Monday of the month.  There's also opportnities to get involved in organsising awareness raising events, and we'd love more volunteers with interest and confidence in using social media.  There's also plenty of opportunities and support to enable people with lived experiences of destitution to speak out to raise awareness and inform change.

The Migrant Destitution Fund provides a crucial lifeline to destitute migrants by providing cash grants of up to 80 pounds per month. We create platforms to enable those experiencing destitution to speak out, and work with partners to promote longer-term solutions to end migrant destitution in Greater Manchester.

MDF is ran by volunteers we get together once a month and are looking for volunteers to bring their ideas and energy. We particularly need people interested in organising or helping out at events, or improving our social media presence. We would love to welcome more people who have experienced destitution to our team.
