Description of opportunity:

Manchester South Central Foodbank opened in April 2014 in response to the need for a foodbank that covered the Hulme, Moss Side and Whalley Range areas. We are a small local charity – Bridging the Gap, established by local people who are concerned about isolation and food poverty in the area.

We currently have our Warehouse in St peters House, Oxford Rd. This subject to change in the next few months.

We are looking for someone who can support our Warehouse and Logistics manager to pick the stock from the warehouse for each of our foodbank sessions. This will involve carrying heavy loads and putting it onto the van, training and gloves will be provided. We also periodically do stock checks, and if donantions are building up, then there will be some stock sorting also.

We need someone who is reliable, can commit to most weeks on a Tuesday morning and is trustworthy. You will need to be able to lift items of up to 15kg.

The stock that you pack, will then go to food bank sessions where it is given to clients who have been referred to the food bank as they are experiencing a food poverty crisis. We are currently providing food for over 1200 people per month.
