What do we do?

At Bolton Lads and Girls Club, we aim to enrich young lives. 

Young Carers:

Young carers between the ages of 8-18 are invited into our club on Spa Rd to take part in a group activity session. Every session is different and may be focus on messy play, wellbeing, sports and activities, games and quizzes, guest speakers from our partners. We aim to make the sessions as inclusive as we possibly can.

Could you give 3 hours of your time every 2 weeks to assist our staff and volunteers with these session. 

Full training and an induction will be given. Come along and have some fun whilst learning new skills and making new friends.

We are looking for volunteers to join our team making a difference to the lives of young carers through a combination of 1:1 support and group activities. Each volunteering session will be varied

What would you be doing?

  • Initiate and build positive relationships with young carers giving them someone to talk to and offering guidance and support.
  • Encourage young carers to meet new friends and join group activities.
  • Actively engage with young carers as they get involved in activities.
  • Supporting young people with activities. Help build self-confidence, self-esteem and resilience. 
  • Acting as a positive role model for young people 
  • Promoting an inclusive culture where all young people are listened to, valued, and cared for

  • Is 18+ years old.

  • Is able to recognise the different needs of young people (based on their personalities) and is able to find ways to involve them. 
  • Shares the same values of BLGC.
  • Is committed to making a positive impact on the lives of young people .
  • Can work well on your own initiative and as part of a group.
  • Can work with children and young people with diverse needs.
